3 Quick Ladder Drills for Wide Receivers

For more than a decade, performance specialists at EXOS have trained and prepared 523 football players who were invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and then selected in the NFL Draft. Many of those players are known for their speed, instincts, and playmaking ability. As discussed in a previous post, we incorporate the SKLZ Quick Ladder at the end of the Movement Prep routine to prime and improve the nervous system. At the wide receiver position, it is important to run crisp routes, create separation from defensive backs, and react quickly after the catch to pick up extra yards.

On the field, as your eyes process what is happening in just fractions of a second, your nervous system carries signals through your body to your legs, hands, and feet. Whether or not that pathway in your nervous system can operate faster than that of the cornerback trying to defend you often is the difference between making a crucial first down and your opponent picking off a pass intended for you.

Cutting is key for wide receivers. Cutting is rapidly decelerating the body by planting the foot, keeping the body inside the base of support, and then moving in a different direction. Here are three EXOS drills every wide receiver should do with the SKLZ Quick Ladder to thrive on the field.
