February 13, 2012

New team members keep popping up here at SKLZ headquarters. Check out some of the latest who have been added to the team!

SKLZ Matt Peters

Name: Matt Peters

Title: Director of Distribution

Sports background: I've always had a passion for sports. As a young football fanatic I loved playing wide receiver. I enjoyed basketball, baseball, and running track and cross-country through high school. In college, I supplemented running with fencing and volleyball, along with experiments in hang-gliding and parachuting. More recently, I spent time sailing, kayaking and playing lots of softball. I am now enjoying introducing my kids to hiking and camping in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Highlight of sporting career: I have two (so far) - finishing the San Francisco marathon and climbing Mt. Whitney.

Favorite athlete: Tony Gwynn, because he never rested on his laurels. He always worked on improving his game and his work ethic was legendary.

Best thing about SKLZ (so far): The teamwork and unselfish attitudes of every single person I've met.

If you didn't work in sporting goods, what industry would you work in: Jewelry design and manufacturing.

Jack LearyName: Jack Leary

Title: Sales Executive

Sports background: Played baseball and basketball competitively all my life up until I graduated high school. Not terribly great at either of them.

Highlight of sporting career: Digging back into the vault here, I was in 8th grade and I hit a game-winning three to beat Stanley Middle School. This wasn't just a game-winning shot, it also snapped Stanley's six-year undefeated streak. I was the coolest kid at Foothill Middle School for a couple days. I peaked early.

Favorite athlete: Barry Bonds

Best thing about SKLZ (so far): The people. Just getting to know people here and there, everyone is excited to come to work every day and get after it. Also, I'd be nowhere without the patience and willingness to help from Tim and Heidi in the sales lounge.

If you didn't work in sporting goods, what industry would you work in: I think working in the social media industry would be interesting.
