With 24 years of coaching under his belt, USD Baseball Head Coach Rich Hill shows what dedication and determination can get you if you work hard to get it. Coach Hill resides in San Diego and leads one of the most successful collegiate baseball programs in the nation. He's also made his mark off the field as an advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at USD. SKLZ is honored to have such a dedicated, high-energy individual who gives what he has each and every day to the game of baseball. 

Career Highlights

  • First head coaching job as the manager at Cal Lutheran, winning 83% of his games in 1991-93
  • Led Cal Lutheran to two World Series appearances
  • Cape Cod Baseball League "Manager of the Year" - 1992
  • Named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year - 1992, 1993
  • Recognized twice as the ABCA West Region Coach of the Year - 1992, 1993
  • Seven of Hill's eight graduating seniors signed professional contracts in 2004
  • Became the third coach in the history of the WCC to eclipse the 200 conference wins mark - 2006
  • Honored by his peers as the WCC Coach of the Year - 2008
  • USD school record winning 44 games in the 2008 season
  • Under his leadership San Diego has averaged 33 wins per season
  • Led the Toreros to a second consecutive WCC title in 2008
